Senior Controls Engineer

Addison, TX

Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Controls Engineer to join our team in Addison, TX. This position requires a proven track record in designing and implementing automation solutions using a range of platforms including PLC, HMI, SCADA, and DCS/Delta V. The successful candidate will lead projects, interact directly with customers, and guide a team of engineers in delivering top-tier automation services.

Responsibilities

  • Design and Implementation: Conceptualize and implement control systems for industrial processes. Develop control system architectures, select components, create schematic diagrams, and compile system documentation.
  • Programming: Program controllers such as PLC and DCS/Delta V, and develop visualization processes using HMI/SCADA. Utilize languages such as Ladder, Sequential Function Chart, and Structured Text.
  • Project Management: Manage project execution plans, schedules, and budgets. Identify early project risks and lead problem resolution. Oversee and report on project financials.
  • Technical Leadership: Act as a technical lead on projects, providing guidance to junior engineers and technicians. May also manage small-scale projects independently.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Control Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Computer Science.
  • Experience: At least 8 years in control systems engineering with a thorough understanding of PLC, HMI, SCADA, and DCS platforms such as Emerson DeltaV, Rockwell Automation, and Siemens.
  • Industry Knowledge: Experience in industries including Semiconductor, Life Sciences, Building Automation, Food and Beverage, Water Treatment, and General Manufacturing.
  • Skills:
    • Expert knowledge in PLC-5 to ControlLogix conversions.
    • Proficiency in industrial networking and communication protocols (Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Modbus, etc.).
    • Familiarity with Panel Design and power distribution systems under 480VAC.
    • Experience with AutoCAD and control panel design.
  • Certifications: PMP certification is a plus.

Preferred Skills

  • Software Proficiency: Advanced knowledge in additional programming languages such as VBA, .NET, SQL, and Python is preferred for the development of HMI/SCADA systems.
  • Communication: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of leading a team and interfacing effectively with customers.
  • Analytical Skills: Exceptional problem-solving skills with the ability to think strategically about technical challenges and business solutions.
