Position Summary

We are seeking a Bridge Inspection Team Leader to oversee bridge inspections and ensure all inspection reports are prepared in accordance with NYSDOT specifications. This role combines field leadership, technical evaluation, reporting, analysis, and repair documentation for bridge structures.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead bridge inspection teams and coordinate personnel, equipment, and field activities

• Provide in-office support for field inspection efforts

• Perform field measurements, assess existing conditions, and document findings

• Prepare technical inspection reports in compliance with NYSDOT requirements

• Conduct structural analyses and ratings for inspected bridges

• Perform engineering calculations, including load ratings

• Develop recommended construction documents for interim repairs related to flagged field conditions

Required Qualifications

• New York State PE License, or ability to obtain within one month of starting employment

• Satisfactory completion of at least one of the following:

  FHWA/NHI Course #130055 – Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges

• FHWA/NHI Course #130056 – Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges for Professional Engineers
• NYSDOT Bridge Inspection Certification

At least 3 years of bridge-related experience in one or more of the following:

• Design
• Construction
• Inspection
• Other bridge engineering-related work
• Active driver’s license

Working Conditions

• Significant field-based work

• Ability to frequently bend, kneel, stand, shovel, and lift/carry objects up to 50 lbs.

• Work may be performed in varying outdoor conditions, including hot, cold, wet, humid, and dry environments

Preferred Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is a hands-on bridge engineering professional who can lead field teams, produce accurate technical documentation, and support structural analysis and repair recommendations in a fast-paced inspection environment.
