Production Supervisor

Position Summary

The Production Supervisor is responsible for organizing and directing work on the processing floor to meet daily production schedules and operational goals. This role ensures that the hourly workforce performs assignments in accordance with company expectations related to food safety, plant safety, quality, productivity, and cleanliness.

The Production Supervisor plays a key leadership role in driving operational efficiency, maintaining compliance standards, and supporting employee engagement initiatives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead and direct daily production floor activities to ensure adherence to production schedules and operational targets.

  • Drive attainment of operational goals including yield, efficiency, uptime, labor cost, and overall conversion cost.

  • Monitor quality checks and ensure product quality and food safety standards are consistently met.

  • Enforce plant safety standards and risk management practices to protect employees and minimize organizational exposure to loss and liability.

  • Supervise, coach, and develop hourly associates, including training, performance management, and goal setting.

  • Support employee engagement and labor relations efforts to promote a positive and productive work environment.

  • Partner with plant leadership to develop and implement training plans aligned with company goals.

  • Participate in or lead process improvement initiatives and, when applicable, product development efforts.

  • Maintain compliance with company policies, food safety regulations, and operational procedures.


Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred.

  • Minimum of three to five years of progressive supervisory experience in a production or manufacturing environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage hourly teams effectively.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to work independently and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.

  • Proven ability to multitask and prioritize competing demands.

  • Experience in food manufacturing preferred.

  • Experience with process improvement initiatives preferred.

  • Experience developing and implementing training programs preferred.

  • Demonstrated success in improving employee engagement or resolving labor-related challenges is a plus.


Work Environment and Physical Requirements

  • Majority of work performed on the production floor.

  • Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts.

  • Work environment is typically loud.

  • Frequent work in refrigerated environments and occasional exposure to freezer conditions with extremely cold temperatures.

  • Must be able to stand, walk, and remain active for extended periods during shift operations.
