Our client is a Veteran-Owned Small Business specializing in unified communications and mission-critical network solutions for commercial and government clients. The company operates a Managed Services Provider (MSP) practice, a Federal Consulting practice, and a Next Generation 9-1-1 (NG9-1-1) interoperability testing laboratory. The team is known for delivering reliable, secure, and innovative communications solutions and for a strong commitment to customer satisfaction.
The Opportunity
This is a role for a technical leader who thrives on both sides of leadership: part strategic architect, part operational leader. As VP of Engineering, you will oversee engineering across the MSP, Federal Consulting, and NG9-1-1 test lab lines of business, ensuring every engagement meets the highest standards of reliability and security. You will stay hands-on technically while leading and developing the engineering team.
Key Responsibilities
- Bridge strategy and execution: Translate company goals into engineering roadmaps and drive them through to successful deployment.
- Executive partnership: Work alongside company leadership to turn business requirements into technical plans.
- Operational oversight: Lead daily engineering operations with a focus on resource optimization, milestone delivery, and budget discipline.
- Security leadership: Oversee critical cybersecurity efforts, ensuring mission-critical communications platforms are hardened against emerging threats.
- Team development: Build a culture of excellence through coaching, performance management, and strategic talent acquisition.
Required Qualifications
- Telephony and telecommunications technical expertise (mandatory)
- Strong background in secure voice telephony
- Deep understanding of IP networking, Voice over IP (VoIP), and cybersecurity
- Knowledge of Next Generation 9-1-1 (NG9-1-1), emergency communications, and public safety communications requirements
- 10+ years of hands-on experience in telecommunications and network engineering
- 7+ years of experience managing engineering teams and complex project lifecycles
- Proven ability to lead and motivate engineering teams while remaining technically hands-on
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or Electrical Engineering
