Mining Mechanical Engineer
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Mining Mechanical Engineer to support critical infrastructure and utility systems at an active mining operation. This position is responsible for short-, mid-, and long-range engineering and planning related to power distribution, water and drainage, underground ventilation, compressed air, and other essential mine systems.
The ideal candidate has engineering experience within underground mining or another heavy industrial environment and is comfortable combining field work, engineering analysis, technical planning, and cross-functional collaboration.
Key Responsibilities

Develop short-, mid-, and long-range plans for critical mine infrastructure and utility systems.

Support and manage high-voltage electrical distribution networks, substations, and backup generators serving surface and underground operations.

Design and optimize underground pumping, water-management, and drainage systems.

Oversee underground ventilation fans and airflow networks to maintain appropriate working conditions.

Conduct monthly ventilation surveys and evaluate system performance.

Manage compressed-air distribution networks supporting pneumatic tools and drilling operations.

Perform engineering and data analysis to identify infrastructure requirements and operational improvements.

Prepare technical reports, recommendations, and supporting engineering documentation.

Work collaboratively with operations, maintenance, technical services, and other departments.

Support compliance with applicable mine-safety and regulatory requirements.

Perform additional engineering responsibilities as needed.
Qualifications

Approximately 5–7+ years of engineering experience in mining or a comparable heavy industrial environment preferred.

Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline preferred.

Experience with one or more of the following:

Underground mine infrastructure
-
High-voltage power distribution and substations
-
Backup power systems
-
Pumping, dewatering, and drainage systems

Mine ventilation and airflow
-
Compressed-air systems
-
-
Experience with Deswik and/or Ventsim preferred.

Knowledge of MSHA regulations preferred; training may be provided.

Strong technical report-writing skills.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking abilities.

Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Must be authorized to work in the United States without employer-sponsored visa assistance.
