Commercial Construction Scheduler / Planner

Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Commercial Construction Scheduler / Planner to support capital and construction projects within a large-scale industrial/energy environment. This role is responsible for developing, maintaining, and analyzing project schedules while collaborating with project teams to ensure timely and cost-effective project delivery.

This is an on-site role requiring strong expertise in project controls, scheduling methodologies, and construction operations.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and update detailed project schedules using industry-standard tools
  • Perform weekly schedule updates and produce monthly status and analysis reports for stakeholders
  • Conduct critical path analysis, identify schedule risks, and recommend mitigation strategies
  • Manage baseline schedules, constraints, dependencies, and resource loading
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and contractors to ensure schedule accuracy and alignment
  • Support continuous improvement of scheduling processes, tools, and reporting methods
  • Develop and maintain Integrated Master Schedules (IMS) based on project work packages
  • Assist in tracking project progress, forecasting timelines, and supporting cost/schedule reporting
  • Participate in project meetings and provide scheduling insights and recommendations
  • Ensure adherence to project specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Minimum 4 years of hands-on experience with Primavera P6 in a project controls or scheduling capacity
  • Experience using Microsoft Project
  • Proven experience in project scheduling, cost reporting, and project controls methodologies
  • Background in facilities maintenance, plant operations, engineering services, or industrial construction
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Critical path method (CPM)
    • Schedule baselines and variance analysis
    • Predecessor/successor relationships
    • Constraints and float/slack management
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, etc.)
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Formal training or certification in project scheduling or project controls
  • Experience working on large-scale or multi-site construction programs
  • Familiarity with integrated project controls systems and reporting tools
