About the Role
An established energy infrastructure organization is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead the design, implementation, and optimization of electrical systems supporting critical infrastructure such as pipelines, compressor stations, and storage facilities.
This role focuses on power distribution systems, automation integration, electrical safety, and infrastructure reliability. The engineer will drive improvements in operational efficiency while ensuring compliance with regulatory and safety standards.
The position will initially be based in Pittsburgh, PA for approximately two years. After this period, the role will relocate to either Tulsa, OK or Houston, TX depending on project needs. Candidates must be open to relocation.
Key Responsibilities
Lead design and optimization of electrical power distribution systems supporting energy infrastructure facilities
Integrate automation systems, monitoring technology, and energy storage solutions
Implement electrical safety initiatives including arc flash mitigation and fault detection systems
Develop and review electrical schematics, layouts, and power system designs for new builds and facility upgrades
Manage engineering projects from concept through commissioning
Ensure compliance with industry codes and standards (NEC, NEMA, API, IEEE)
Support procurement and vendor selection for electrical equipment and materials
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including operations, construction, and engineering groups
Mentor junior engineers and support technical development within the team
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
8+ years of electrical engineering experience in:
Industrial power systems
Experience with power system design and analysis
Knowledge of high-voltage equipment, transformers, generators, and switchgear
Experience reviewing and implementing arc flash studies
Familiarity with power system modeling tools such as:
Strong knowledge of electrical codes and standards (NEC, NEMA, API, IEEE)
Preferred Qualifications
Professional Engineer (PE) License
Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering
Experience with PLC and HMI systems
Experience in FEED / Pre-FEED / EPC project environments
Experience supporting commissioning, testing, and startup (FAT) of electrical equipment
Experience integrating renewable energy systems or grid interconnection
