Commercial Construction Scheduler / Planner

Job Overview

A growing construction and project management team supporting a large energy sector account is seeking an experienced Commercial Construction Scheduler / Planner to support capital construction projects in Houston, TX and additional project sites. This role is responsible for developing, maintaining, and analyzing project schedules to ensure construction projects remain on track, within scope, and aligned with overall project objectives.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience with Primavera P6 scheduling, construction project controls, and working with cross-functional project teams in industrial or energy-related environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain detailed project schedules using industry-standard scheduling tools.

  • Update project schedules weekly and provide monthly schedule analysis and status reports for internal and external stakeholders.

  • Support project teams in identifying and mitigating scheduling risks that could impact project delivery timelines.

  • Perform critical path analysis and evaluate schedule performance throughout project lifecycles.

  • Manage schedule baselines and maintain accurate schedule documentation.

  • Analyze schedule constraints, predecessor and successor relationships, slack time, and resource loading.

  • Collaborate with project managers, contractors, and engineering teams to maintain schedule alignment with project milestones.

  • Recommend improvements to scheduling processes, tools, and reporting methods to increase project execution efficiency.

  • Assist with construction management functions including scheduling coordination, financial tracking, and project documentation.

  • Maintain project records, meeting notes, and reporting documentation.

  • Support subcontractor coordination and ensure schedule commitments are met.

  • Ensure project activities comply with safety, quality, and contractual requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

  • Minimum of 5 years of management or project leadership experience in construction or project environments.

  • Minimum of 4 years of direct project controls experience using Primavera P6.

  • At least 3 years of experience in facilities maintenance, plant operations, engineering services, or industrial construction environments.

  • Formal training in project scheduling techniques and associated software tools.

  • Advanced knowledge of project scheduling methodologies including critical path analysis, schedule baselines, and resource loading.

  • Experience with MS Project and other scheduling tools.

  • Strong schedule and cost reporting skills.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, Adobe).

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced construction environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting large-scale capital construction projects in industrial or energy sectors.

  • Experience working with integrated master schedules and multi-site construction programs.

  • Familiarity with project control systems and construction documentation processes.

Work Environment

This position supports capital construction projects across multiple facilities and requires close collaboration with project managers, contractors, engineers, and operational stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.

Candidates must be comfortable working in a dynamic construction environment and managing multiple concurrent project schedules.
