A site-based industrial operation is seeking a Controller to lead accounting, cost control, and financial reporting at an active operating site. This role is responsible for day-to-day financial ownership at the site level and partners closely with operations and corporate finance to ensure accurate reporting, disciplined cost management, and effective internal controls.
The position reports to senior finance leadership and plays a key role in supporting operational decision-making, capital projects, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Own site-level accounting and financial reporting activities
Lead monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes
Manage cost accounting, inventory controls, and variance analysis
Oversee inventory accuracy, including cycle counts and reconciliations
Support budgeting and forecasting activities (P&L, cash flow, and key operating metrics)
Track capital projects and fixed assets, including capitalization and depreciation
Prepare and analyze financial results versus budget and forecast
Support internal and external audits and maintain effective internal controls
Prepare standard and ad hoc financial reports for site and corporate stakeholders
Partner with operations, maintenance, and project teams to improve cost visibility and financial discipline
Participate in finance systems improvements and ERP implementation initiatives as needed
Ensure compliance with company policies and site-level procedures
Maintain confidentiality of financial and operational information
5+ years of experience in a controller, plant controller, or senior accounting role
Hands-on experience with cost accounting and inventory management in an industrial, manufacturing, mining, or construction environment
Strong Excel skills and ability to analyze and interpret financial data
Experience supporting month-end close, audits, and internal controls
Exposure to FP&A, including budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
Experience working with accounting systems such as QuickBooks or similar platforms, with comfort operating in lean or transitioning system environments
Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally with operations
Legal authorization to work in the United States
Public company experience
Participation in ERP implementations or major system upgrades
Exposure to SOX/internal control frameworks
Familiarity with IFRS or cross-border reporting environments
Experience supporting construction or capital-intensive projects
CPA designation
