Director Of Facilities Operations

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced, service-minded Director of Facilities Operations to oversee a large, multi-building campus known for its excellence, community, and long-term vision. This role is ideal for a leader who takes pride in building environments where people can thrive—someone who can balance technical expertise, strategic planning, and hands-on leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of more than 25 facilities and custodial professionals to ensure smooth, efficient, and safe daily operations.

  • Oversee all building systems across multiple properties, including academic, residential, and athletic spaces.

  • Manage comprehensive maintenance programs, including preventive and predictive maintenance, energy efficiency, and safety compliance.

  • Direct operating budgets, capital projects, and long-term facilities planning to meet organizational goals.

  • Build strong partnerships with campus stakeholders to align facilities strategy with community priorities.

  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, NFPA, ADA, EPA, and local/state building codes.

  • Optimize performance through Building Automation Systems (Trane preferred) and MEP system oversight.

  • Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and service excellence within all facilities operations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Facilities Management, Engineering, or a related field.

  • Minimum of five years of integrated facilities management (IFM) leadership experience.

  • Demonstrated success managing complex, campus-style environments.

  • Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing facilities teams.

  • Strong understanding of BAS, HVAC, MEP, and building systems maintenance.

  • Excellent communication and leadership skills with a collaborative, solutions-focused mindset.

  • Commitment to safety, sustainability, and operational excellence.

Preferred Attributes

  • Experience managing facilities for schools, universities, or residential campuses.

  • History of developing energy conservation or sustainability programs.

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not required.
