Birth Registrar-Admin Support

Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and professional Birth Registrar to join a hospital-based Labor & Delivery unit in Pittsfield, MA. This part-time, temporary role involves completing official birth and fetal death certificates, supporting unit operations, and assisting with various administrative and secretarial tasks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and file birth certificates and fetal death certificates accurately and in a timely manner

  • Provide clerical and administrative support to the Labor & Delivery unit

  • Interact with patients, families, physicians, and hospital staff professionally and compassionately

  • Maintain and enter data in EMR and state systems

  • Ensure strict confidentiality and adherence to legal documentation protocols

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience as a registrar, administrative assistant, or medical records professional

  • Active Massachusetts Notary Public license (must be bonded and insured)

  • High School diploma or GED required

  • Valid Driver’s License

  • Experience with Meditech, Microsoft Word, and Excel preferred

  • Working knowledge of medical terminology

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently with minimal supervision

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Must be fully COVID vaccinated (dose on or after 10/3/2023) or willing to provide a documented exemption

Additional Details

  • No weekend or on-call shifts required

  • 8-hour paid orientation included

  • Local candidates encouraged to apply
